| I grew up on a Quarter Horse
Farm where my family raised, trained, showed, and bred quality quarter
horses. The farm was "Powell's Misty Acres." My parents were
both AQHA Judges for many, many years and my father, Larry, was a National
Director of The American Quarter Horse Association. I grew up riding,
training, and showing horses and playing Volleyball, Basketball, and
Tennis…but since age 12 have always had an Aussie in my life! My
parents, Larry and Nancy, took me to Hartnagles, then in Boulder Colorado.
For my 12th Birthday they purchased a little Blue Merle Puppy out of HOF
Ch Las Rocosa Shiloh and HOF CH Las Rocosa Sadie Blue. This little girl,
who was shipped to us in August of 1978, became the center of my world.
Her registered name was Las Rocosa Sadie Lynn… and I became forever
hooked on this breed of dog called the Australian Shepherd. Sadie lived a
good life and we shared 15 special years together. Sadie died on October
12, 1993. She will forever be my most loyal and devoted friend.
Aussies have been a big part of my life for 31
years. As a kid growing up we had several aussies that shared our lives
with us and were cherished family members. Most of the time we only had 3
aussies at any given time, they worked for a living and were devoted and
loyal beyond compare. Those aussies were Missy, Sooner, Rocky, Tex, Skira,
Shantay, Sadie, Cheeno, Sasta. We, (our family) raised a couple of litters
of puppies in the early 80's. It wasn't until 2002 that I started showing
and competing with my aussies. In 2003, I applied for the Loyal Spirit
Kennel Name. So, as you can see our Kennel Name is somewhat new, but I
have been dedicated and devoted to a breed I love and have shared my life
with for 31 years."
Our first litter of Loyal Spirit Puppies were
born on October 12, 2003...10 years to the day that Sadie passed. These
puppies are very near and dear to our hearts. Our second litter of
Loyal Spirit Puppies were born on April 20, 2005. Our Third Litter
of Loyal Spirit Puppies were born on October 28, 2007
